TIPS & INFORMATION
Plane Trip ----
Ensure that you do not have anything in your carry-on luggage which would slow you down when going through security, ask for and check an items list if in doubt. Refrain from wearing a lot of jewellery or accessories which could set off the alarm. It would be better to put them in your personal holding bag until later.
Refrain from taking anything which is very meaningful to you or very valuable, only pack what you really need, leaving some space for anything you might want to bring back. Carry must-have items with you in your personal or carry-on bag. It is a common practice to now inspect all checked luggage, so if you have a really important item enclosed it cannot be guaranteed safety.
Bring a pair of earphones for your own personal use on the plane.
Beware of clothing in which you are usually comfortable in your own country; the cosy sweater which is generally very flattering can become a prickly, distressing annoyance in the tropical temperature.
Pack maybe just one of these items for when you are returning home or for very cool evenings. In a hot climate wear sandals without stocking / socks to allow your feet to breathe.
For special occasions like church if you really feel underdressed or bare without leg wear, consider a very fine denier, light weight stocking which would be less restrictive than tights for the tropics.

It would be nice to have everything wrinkle free but natural fibres like cotton are the best and most relaxed for the warm climate; it would be a good idea to carry a small travel iron with you if you can.
In Barbados you are free to enjoy all fabric prints except camouflage which is reserved (to ensure your safety) for the military.
So that favorite camouflage dress or bikini, regardless of how beautiful, in as long as it is in this print, would be essentially against the law in Barbados.
However this does not mean you cannot look nice, there are lots of other fabrics with which you can have fun, be safe and enjoy yourself.

DRESSING APPROPRIATELY--
Barbados is by no means a prudish island but it is expected that you dress suitably to compliment and represent the occasion.
Enjoy swimwear for the beach, casual clothing for shopping and respectful apparel for church etc.
Sarongs are very versatile, they can be folded in half for a beach outfit, used as a long, flowing skirt teamed with a tasteful top for shopping or even transformed into an elegant shawl for the evening, to flatter a simple dress.
There is no reason to feel restricted, you can still express yourself whilst suitably befitting the activity or occasion.

EXTRA CONSIDERATIONS
It is a good idea to pack many bathing suits not only for variety but to account for damage, sea conditions and proposed use; for example a bikini is very suitable for sunbathing but bikini tops have been known to come off in a strong sea surf, where a one piece, monokini with cut-outs, tankini or other style would be more suitable.
Bring an umbrella particularly if it is rainy season June to November.
Ensure you have a protective sun hat with a fairly wide brim.
Accommodate your shoes for all occasions but pack wisely. One pair of light sandals, a good pair of walking shoes, one dress shoes and reef style footwear for water sports or beach, would be adequate as a bare minimum.
