After the frenzy and enjoyment of your wedding, the finishing touch comes with your honeymoon. But another question arises … How do we honeymoon … What way, for how long? Etc.
At the end of the day, all honeymoons
are not the same.
IMMEDIATE HONEYMOON
This is the traditional idea of a honeymoon, where you change from the ceremony having left the reception for your guests to enjoy and you are seen off by family, friends and well-wishers. This type of honeymoon has one very strong element in its favour that is the continuity of momentum. When you leave for your honeymoon immediately after your wedding the whole magical journey just keeps on going; you are enjoying new and exciting experiences together, making memories as a new couple and getting used to travelling and interacting as a married couple whilst still in the first flush of newly married excitement.
This type of honeymoon is very romantic but due to work, time or other constraints, it may not be practical and you may have to consider alternatives.
PACKAGE HONEYMOON This
consists of a prescribed amount of time, three, four, five or so nights with other arrangements presented as a package. This type of honeymoon suits the couple who have a definite and set allocation for their honeymoon as most of the services are inclusive. See“All Inclusive Option” for more information.
WEEKEND HONEYMOON
A weekend style honeymoon is very convenient for merging the best of both worlds apart from perhaps one exception… Your time will be short. However you can still experience that special time together while being able to fit in with work or any other obligations which might prevent you from taking a longer time. In addition, weekends away are often extremely affordable, which is a great plus for those who are on a budget or anyone in general considering the money that was already spent on the wedding. Hopefully you will have allocated for your honeymoon, so in this situation it would be a case of making the best of the time that you do have. As it is just for the weekend you will have to decide very carefully between you as to the location. If the reason you chose a weekend was because of work or other obligations, you might not want to travel too far from home. Do some research beforehand to see what is available within a suitable radius of your residence.
VACATION HONEYMOON
This
is arranged between you and your travel agent on a more personal, customised level, including cruises as well as flights and hotel accommodation. The main thing to remember when opting for this kind of honeymoon is that the further away you decide to go, the more days you should allocate. Three days in a completely different country, when you subtract the travel time, would not allow you the same potential as seven, ten, fourteen or more days if your time and finances allow. This type of honeymoon is for the couple who have a large budget allocation for their honeymoon and have no time constrains which will prevent them from taking it to its limit.
DELAYED HONEYMOON
For whatever reason, work, commitments, pre arranged duties or just because you want to, some couples choose to postpone their honeymoon for a decided length of time. This can work to your advantage allowing you to rest and recuperate after the hectic whirlwind which was your wedding. The extra time also allows you to make better arrangements because your focus will be solely on your honeymoon and not your wedding and honeymoon. In addition you will have had a little time to catch yourself financially and maybe utilise any monetary gifts which could help towards the honeymoon if you so decide.
DOUBLE HONEYMOON
As with a double wedding, a double honeymoon is where two couples who are in the same situation at the same time, decide to share the experience. Couples who go on a double honeymoon are usually very good friends with the other couple or are family. A double honeymoon can be very exciting if you are the adventurous type and as the accommodation will be separate you will still get alone time together. However if you are the type who decides that this is a special time when you simply must be alone, then a double honeymoon is not for you.
FAMILY HONEYMOON
In
very special circumstances, a couple may decide to bring a child or children with them on their honeymoon. Traditionally the honeymoon is a time for a newly-wed couple to be alone; only you and your fiancé can decide if your circumstances dictate and if this is workable for you.
Regardless of what way you choose to honeymoon, remember that this special time can always be everything that you want it to be, in its own unique way.
