Wearing Dramatic Groom Style

The "Dramatic Groom" is an awe-inspiring vision who commands attention in an impressive way.  This is the man who is confident enough to make a visual announcement, that this is his day too and he is not afraid to show it, with a much bolder statement than is usual.  He infuses strong colour into his outfit, either slightly or very bold
according to his taste.

Naturally a traditional approach would still create the polished and well-dressed look you desire but the dramatic groom captures that extra element due to the fact that it not only unusual but also unexpected, if anything the bride is often the one that is predicted to shock and surprise.

The wonderful thing about the dramatic groom is that he does not really take away from the bride, he arrives first so does not spoil her entrance and his choice of strong colour can in fact be a compliment to her by picking up on accents or other features of her outfit.

The dramatic groom can not only play with colour but textures and patterns as well.  He can infuse aspects of his culture with Chinese symbols, African kente fabric, rich Indian features plus other themes and enjoy rich fabrics with embellishments and embroidery for his waistcoat, collar etc.  The glorious Barbados weather affords you the opportunity to express this style successfully.
If you are considering wearing “Dramatic Groom style, here are a few points to study:
BRIDE'S OUTFIT
Consult extensively with your fiancé so as not to clash with her outfit.  If she is wearing all white or another ivory, champagne or similar colour then your palette is pretty much open to you but if her gown has accents, features or blocks of colour or even a totally coloured gown and you are not aware, then you are going to neither match nor coordinate.     Discuss your options carefully so that you can both be happy and compliment each other.
TYPE OF WEDDING
Consider the suitability with the type of wedding you are having in coordination with how formal your clothes are.  A strong infusion of colour in a formal outfit can look stunning but if your wedding is going to be very casual you might end up loosing the “wedding” feel and find yourself with your apparel looking like everyday wear. Of course this is fine if that is what you are aiming for.
ACCESSORIES
You will have to think about your accessories particularly your shoes depending on the strength of the inclusion of colour into your outfit.  The question is, should you go with the dominant, strongest block of colour or pick up on an accent?  The answer is whichever is easiest to access and more conventional, unless you are prepared to look for the unusual shade of shoes or have them dyed.  If you are going with the most conventional tone you can always follow the colour chart, for matching shoes to your suit.
COLOUR SUITABILITY
Make sure that if you are marrying a lady of another culture or religion, that the colour you select is not offensive or bad luck in her country.  There are certain colours which may seem beautiful and perfectly harmless to you but might have deep meaning in another culture.  Remember that you also have to consider the feelings of the bride’s parents and their guests.
THEME & DECOR
Take into account if your outfit colour choice will influence your general theme and décor.  If you are echoing an accent on the bride which is followed through into your bridal party then there should be no problem as the theme would just follow.  If your bride is in a solid white or off-white colour then your choice to be more dramatic would probably set the colour theme for the rest of the décor and wedding party.
GROOMSMEN
Carefully organise your groomsmen, as they have to compliment you but at the same time not overshadow you.  Incorporate your dramatic theme throughout your party but with slightly less emphasis than yourself.
BRIDE'S BOUQUET
Consider your bride’s bouquet; this may be a case where she might have to compliment you.  The best solution if you want to go dramatic is to go bold with the colour that you have chosen together as your general theme anyway.

The most important aspect is that you feel comfortable and well-presented in your choice of outfit.  This is a memorable day and if you decide that dressing in a dramatic way is for you, then it is also a way for you to do something on this day that you would not normally do and might not get the chance to do very often again.  Above all do it with style and enjoy.
