Your Wedding Cologne
Your wedding cologne is a vital part of your presentation, here is where you really personalise yourself in a more subtle but distinct way.  You will be meeting and greeting a lot of people in addition to interacting for photo’s etc; you have an opportunity to put your own feel on things by leaving an aromatic stamp …
The impression of the groom.

When choosing cologne for something as important as your wedding, although it is your day too and you have a right to be individual, it is no longer a case of simply only buying what pleases you, of course you will buy what you like but now you have to take a little into account, also what pleases your bride and be careful that you do not clash with her scent.

You can also keep your future in mind when selecting cologne, as you want a scent that just doesn't only smell good but also triggers good memories for the both of you, of your wedding, every time you use it, so take some time to choose something that you consider reflects you in a really special way.

QUALITY
It is worth spending a little extra on cologne and own fewer bottles than small amounts on many cheap colognes which smell not too good.  Some of the cheaper ones have poor base ingredients which deteriorate after time, fade quickly and can smell really off as time goes by.  In addition you need to apply less to be affective with a more expensive cologne

You have put a lot of thought into preparing your wedding image however simple or fancy and elaborate it may be, it is a reflection of your union and how you want to celebrate it. Remember that you are investing in your personal presentation for a special day in your life. If you are budgeting tightly due to the general cost of your wedding,
do not be afraid to ask the assistant
for help. Together, you are sure to
find something which is
pleasantly priced in between,
that will give you a satisfactory
performance for a price
you can afford.

SELECTING COLOGNES
There is now so much choice for men to consider but like the ladies what smells good on one man may be undesirable on another.  Your body scent creates its own chemicals which work together to produce the eventual aroma.  Be certain to try samples of the selected cologne before you buy it.

Test on different spots and don’t try too many at once to confuse the senses. If you have a large amount you want to test, a better idea would be to ask for sample cards or have it sprayed onto cards so that you can reduce the selection to the ones that you really like and then when you have finally narrowed it down, test it on your skin to discover the eventual aroma.

With this in mind it is not a good idea to allow a person to choose a scent for you which is their favourite, without you trying it on yourself first to see if it combines well with your natural pheromones.

Gents' colognes are usually earthier to reflect the masculine side of fragrance.  Popular ingredients are tobacco and musk which is very deep and sensual, cedar and sandalwood which are considered invigorating or citrus scents which are clean and sporty. Be sure to match the tone of your cologne with that of your after shave.

Choose according to your personality and the theme and time of your wedding.  Naturally if you are having a daytime wedding it will evaporate quicker so you will need one with a stronger base and more staying power, however, be mindful of what you will be wearing; strong musky undertones while resilient, are a poor reflection for a groom who is wearing carefree beach style of wedding clothing. He would have tended to gravitate more towards a crisp, citrus, natural scent, which is more reflective of his character and a much lighter, more suitable scent to wear for daytime.

However your aim should not be to saturate yourself with fragrance, for men it is a case of subtlety.  Apply modestly until you feel you have reached the desired level for your personal needs.
METHODS OF APPLICATION

Application of cologne is a very personal and customary thing, some men are just very liberal but generally most people gravitate towards the pressure points which produce the most body heat, otherwise known as “The Hot Spots”, for maximum effect like the neck and wrist.  This increases the strength of the smell and makes it last longer.  Do not be tempted to over apply, often people get used to the smell of their own cologne, which falsely leads them to believe that they need to put on more, which is not necessary.

Walking into a sprayed mist is also a great way of evenly distributing the fragrance.

However, spraying cologne directly on your clothes has little if any effect as it evaporates quickly and there is no natural body chemistry available to blend with and produce your own personal, original version of the scent. In addition, be mindful of some fabrics, the cologne may create stains on the clothing, which may prove difficult to shift. Test on an inconspicuous area first.
