Barbados Destination Weddings Onsite Magazine

On this exceptional day you want to radiate your bridal loveliness to the world … a special aura which will be remembered and captured in photos, videos and peoples memories.

So it is vital that you get it right ...  The important thing to remember is that while your make-up will need to be a bit more striking than usual, you must still remain true to your own unique look and not create an image which makes you barely recognisable as the lady he fell in love with.

PREPARATION

Our aim is for a natural, healthy and radiant appearance which will enhance your own style in a beautiful way.

This means that you need to start preparing at least six weeks or even more before your wedding day, with a new skin regimen, which you must stick to if you wish to see results.   We are talking about Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise with products appropriate to your skin type, plus regular exfoliation to remove dead skin cells.

Make- up actually adheres better to skin which is regularly maintained in this manner. It is a bad idea to suddenly try new products just before your wedding day, you will add stress to yourself if you break out in a reaction to the ingredients.  Try any new products three months before the wedding to give yourself adjustment time.

MAKE- UP

When it comes to make-up, it really is a good idea to have it done professionally for the one day in your life when you simply must look delightful.

It is understandable that you may not think it is within your budget but in the long run the cost is worthwhile because the make-up artist is trained in the application of make-up for photographic purposes as well as maximising the longevity of the products on your face. You want to be remembered for your natural beauty and captured in photographs in the same manner … After all you will be paying for the photos as well.

Experiment as early as possible and remember to stick to colours which compliment you as opposed to matching with your theme. Your skin tone must be taken into consideration.

Please note that your skin will still fall into the specified categories regardless of your colour.

Neutral skins are a balance between warm and cool tones and generally are complimented best by both the cool tones of lilacs as well as earth tones of caramel and creams.

Cool skins are pink based and best complimented with colours which have a blue undertone like lavender, magenta and pinks.

Warm skins are yellow based and look great with earth tones of brown, chocolate, muted orange and tan.

Remember to do trial runs; a good idea is to take a photograph to see if you have achieved the desired result.  It is amazing how different styles can look in person as opposed to your imagination. A picture will enable you to see at a very early stage, if you need to adjust anything to suit.
EXTRA TIPS
A good rule is to avoid drinking beverages with strong pigments like red wine or coffee before your wedding, so that stains on teeth will not ruin your photos.  Remember that white is reflective and if selected as your bridal colour will have to be taken into consideration especially if you are fair skinned and suddenly decide that you want a tan.  So consider your look before you decide to spend time tanning in the sun just before your wedding.  The use of a tinted moisturiser or bronzing powder is a better and more controllable idea.

Any strong treatments like waxing or eyebrow plucking etc should be done a few days before your wedding to reduce redness or irritation.

While all the tips will help just remember to be happy and enjoy your day … The radiance will then come naturally.
