Jewellery adds finish to your whole look transforming even the simplest of gowns into an amazing accomplishment.
Your bridal jewellery is the lasting keepsake of your big day, something you can wear again and again, feeling that same sense of warmth, everytime you use it.
Pearls are the jewellery that is most associated with brides, symbolizing purity, status and wealth.  Strong in tradition, dating back to Rome and Greece in antiquity, pearls have enjoyed a high standing amongst royalty and all things harmonious.  A natural substance, pearls come in many shades but natural pearls are warm off-white in hue, flattering many shades of bridal gown.  Pearls afford you the opportunity to start your own tradition as it is the item most often handed down through generations and can be seen as a “something borrowed” item if you wish.  Pearls are definitely for the classic bride, ensure your gown is of a similar standing if you choose to use this look.

A more contemporary look is to go for sparkling stones.  This look is more edgy and can be complimentary for brides who choose to incorporate colour into their gown.  Alternatively, a Sapphire, topaz or similar hue can solve your “something blue dilemma”
JEWELLERY TIPS & CONSIDERATIONS

Remember that if you really want to express an individual style, you can always have custom jewellery specially made for your needs.  Be mindful that it is not cheap but if you want to attain exactly the finish you are looking for it is an alternative to consider.

  • When purchasing, make sure you buy something which you really like and is not only suitable for the wedding or the current trend.  That way you can get the most out of your jewellery by being able to wear it to other functions without it looking inappropriate or dated.
  • A large necklace and large earrings can look overwhelming.  Consider your hairstyle when choosing earrings, with your hair up you can afford to place the focus on your earrings but with down flowing hair you can redirect your focus to your necklace.
  • Watch out for the amount of detailing on your gown when selecting your jewellery, you don’t want to overdo it or detract from the dress or you.
  • There are a few considerations to address when considering a necklace as you have to incorporate it into your gown and its neckline.  Some gowns may be so focused at the neckline that you may not even require a necklace.
Generally most gown choices are successfully complimented by variations on
these three basic style types:
Collar style necklace
COLLAR
12/13 Inches
Victorian style sits in the middle of the neck, with usually three strands sometimes more
WEAR WITH: This style looks striking with very deep wedding gowns, V neck and off-shoulder.
Choker style necklace
CHOKER
Up to 16 inches
Classic singular Victorian style of velvet ribbon or one strand of stones or pearls.
WEAR WITH: This selection is very versatile as it flatters most necklines
Princess length necklace
PRINCESS
Up to 19 inches
Rests in the hollow of the neck and the collarbone.
WEAR WITH:  Higher or square necklines but can be used with a plunging neckline and suitably supports a pendent.

Other lengths to consider:

MATINEE LENGTH:
Longer strand to 24 inches
Reaches to the top of the bust line
WEAR WITH: Cowl neck gowns, sheer or transparent necklines

OPERA LENGTH
- Longer strand to 34 inches
A strand which is long and falls below the bust.
WEAR WITH: Deep plunging gown necklines or very high.

ROPE LENGTH – 45 inches or longer
A very long, elegant strand which hangs below the waist
WEAR WITH: Looks great worn to the back, draped down a gown with a deep plunging back.  It can be knotted and doubled.
