Destination Weddings - Facial and Make-Up Tips

It is important to appear fresh and for your look to be durable on this special day,
which will probably be the most photographed of your life.

SKIN PREPARATION

In this weather you might find that your skin is a little shinier than usual even if you normally have dry skin. This can be controlled by applying a non-oil, hydrating mask which is suitable for your skin type, in addition to a light spray of mineral water for extra hydration. You may find that you have to alter your usual moisturiser and foundation as it is important that your products be oil-free and fine in texture, for use in the tropics.

COSMETICS

Mineral make-up is very effective for all skin types; it is light with a flawless appearance and is a suitable alternative, as are loose and translucent powders.
A tinted moisturiser is an excellent substitute for foundation which can often be heavy; better still if you get one which includes a sunscreen.
On a Tropical wedding you have the freedom to be bolder with your eye colour. So enjoy Turquoise and sea greens, bronze, gold, coral and fruity shades of orange and pink in tones to match your complexion. The colour palette is open for your choice.
Waterproof mascara, pencils and eyeliner are more durable for tropical weather.

SUNGLASSES & TANNING

BAJAN TIP

Be aware of wearing sunglasses the hours before your wedding as they will leave marks on your nose which may translate onto photos.
Wearing sunglasses a day or two before your wedding may leave you with eye circles where the glasses protected the eye area from tanning. Try to avoid tanning just before the wedding as sunburn is difficult to mask and individuals react differently to sunburn. For extra soft skin apply a soothing face mask made from one of our local fruits. Simply apply the mashed fruit of either banana, avocado etc to your skin, avoiding
the eye area, rest for ten minutes, rinse thoroughly, pat dry and apply moisturiser.

* Apply your make-up in a cool atmosphere to minimise premature sweating before the occasion and to achieve a solid durable application.

* Remember that sunscreen is necessary for all skin tones and colours.
