Planning a destination wedding can be very difficult as you are not familiar with the location or local vendors; but you’ll have to juggle all those details yourself long distance and you won't have as much control over the organising as you would at home.
You also need to be sure that the ceremony done abroad will be legally recognized in your country.
SOLUTION: Make full use of the internet and its resources, help is at hand. Also
check the legal requirements of Barbados. |

If you jet off alone you might end up regretting not inviting family members and close friends. It can be very lonely if it's just the two of you, as you’ll need to rope in strangers to act as witnesses at the wedding.
SOLUTION: However this is a chance to make new friends which you can visit again and relive the memory of your destination wedding. |

With your family around, having quality time in the same location as family members can present a problem.
SOLUTION: It can be solved by arriving a week before the wedding and the other guests so that you can have enough romantic time alone or have a honeymoon nearby afterwards. Alternatively, find interesting things for your wedding party to do to keep them occupied, keeping scheduled plans (rehearsals, dinners etc) to a minimum to allow them too to have free time.. |

WEATHER & CONTINGENCY PLAN
|
Do your research using the Barbados map on what areas are best for that dream wedding and avoid the rainy season.
SOLUTION: Discuss a back-up plan with your coordinator in advance as weather is the biggest unknown factor . Tents are popular for outdoor weddings for protection and dining under the stars. |
